Youth Ministry Learning Community:
The Journey Starts Here.

What is the Youth Ministries Learning Community?

The Youth Ministries Learning Community at Central Bible College is a journey that Youth Ministry majors will embark on from the start of their college career. It is a program designed to expose and stretch their realms of understanding within the field of Youth Ministry. This is accomplished by creating a vibrant and active residential community that is spiritually and academically engaging, while being focused around the common educational theme of youth ministry.  The Youth Ministries Learning Community offers Youth Ministry students opportunities to interact with the professor and other students who share an academic interest in Youth Ministry in a relaxed but intentional setting.

This is accomplished through formal and informal programs such as special outings, presentations, community discussions, dinners, and one-on-one times with the Youth Ministry professor.

Residents who are youth ministry majors will share an intensive, highly focused experience. This includes living together in gender-specific, designated on-campus housing, taking at least the PM 203 Strategic Youth Ministry course from the youth ministry program, and sharing and living life together in community with other youth ministry students who are on the same journey. As such, the Learning Community intentionally brings together the spiritual, social, and academic forces that shape the CBC Youth Ministry students’ educational, ministerial, and spiritual development.

How does the Youth Ministries Learning Community benefit me?

Research indicates students who connect the in-class and out-of-class learning experiences report a more satisfying college experience. In this way, the Learning Community helps Youth Ministry majors earn higher grades, experience greater interaction with the professor, and engage their major. At CBC, our goal is for students to do all of this with sound biblical truth and scholarship as guiding principles for their ministry development.

Other benefits of involvement in the Youth Ministry Learning Community:

  • Helps integrate what you are learning in the classroom with application outside of the classroom.
  • Spurs you to authentically explore God’s call on your life within youth ministry.
  • Fosters open, engaging dialogue on relevant issues with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Maximizes the four years you are dedicating to become fully equipped to deeply impact the lives of young people.
  • Truly allows you to be a part of something bigger than yourself!

When does the journey begin?

All incoming first-year Youth Ministry majors are automatically enrolled in the  Youth Ministry Learning Community and registered for the PM203 Strategic Youth Ministry course.  Please be sure to block this time out when you are registering for other classes.

Returning students will want to continue on this journey each year to maximize the benefits that the learning community is designed to provide, including the opportunity to mentor other Youth Ministry majors who are not as far along on their journey.
